Mr.&Mrs. Shinohara from Kyoto, blend many regional Japanese ceramic styles into their work.They produce their own unique glazes and clay textures based on their previous experiences.
Kirikabu black and white: After they moved to their current location in Kameoka Kyoto to start their own business, Ms.Shinohara participated in an archaeological excavation survey in the area.
During the excavation, Ms.Shinohara found a piece of pottery dating back to the Jomon period (BC10,000 - 1,300), this piece of pottery was decorated with a unique shell pattern to increase its strength.
Impressed by the wisdom and technique of over a thousand years ago, Ms.Shinohara decided to incorporate that technique into their work.
That is how the "Kirikabu" series was born by Shinohara.
The coffee cups are perfect for latte, matcha latte, coffee and tea.
