Hitohira Kyuzo

Kyuzo comes from a family of knife shapers and sharpeners, well known as one of the busiest and most respected in Sakai. He first learned the craft from his father before continuing his training under Kambei, who is regarded as one of the finest shapers and sharpeners in Sakai. Kyuzo’s work combines the influence of both teachers, resulting in a refined style that is distinctly his own. He is also one of the few shapers capable of creating a crisp, clean shinogi line on wide-bevel knives — a difficult task that speaks to his exceptional skill.
