Moki was founded in 1907 by Shigekazu Sakurai as Sakurai Knife Manufacturing, making several cutlery items that focused on the domestic market. During World War 2, Moki kept making knives as tools, while other knife companies were making military swords. Keeping their integrity as a tool maker, not a weapon maker. After World War 2, they changed their focus to pocket knives as their core business. Now with multiple patents and designs for pocket knives and hunting knives, Moki is now one of the biggest utility knife manufacturers in Japan.
