Wakui is a blacksmith from Sanjo who comes from a family of toolmakers. Wanting to expand his craft and learn knife forging, he apprenticed under Yoshikane, where he developed the foundation for his work. Today, Wakui’s knives are well known for their excellent geometry and reliable heat treatment, reflecting both his toolmaking background and the influence of his training.
